About this site
A reader's reference for Qatari club football. Independent, unofficial, and clear about where every number came from.
Not the league. Qatar Star League has no connection to Qatar Stars League Management, the Qatar Football Association, or any club named on these pages. It does not sell tickets, it is not a ticket agent, and it has no affiliation with anyone who does. Club and competition names appear here to identify the clubs and competitions being written about. The league's official site is qsl.qa, and tickets are sold through the league and the clubs.
What it publishes
Three reference pages that are meant to stay useful for years: how the competition is structured, who plays in it and where. Then longer pieces in the news section on seasons, clubs, grounds and history.
It does not publish live scores, league tables updated in play, streaming links or betting content. A page that is rebuilt once and then sits still cannot carry a live score honestly, so it does not try to.
Where the numbers come from
Tables and records here are taken from Wikipedia's Qatari football articles, which cite the league's own standings and RSSSF's list of champions, and from the individual stadium articles for capacities. Every table on the site names its source underneath. Where two sources disagree, which happens often with stadium capacities, the page says so rather than picking the larger number quietly.
Spelling follows the most common English form, so Al Sadd rather than Al-Sadd, Amir Cup rather than Emir Cup, with older variants mentioned where they help someone searching.
Crests and photographs
The coloured shield beside each club is not that club's badge. Club crests are not free to reuse, and a drawn imitation would be worse than an honest substitute, so each mark is built from the club's own first-kit colours with its three-letter code on it. Al Sadd is white on black, Al-Gharafa yellow on blue, Al-Shamal white on red, and so on down the table.
Photographs come from Wikimedia Commons under Creative Commons licences. Each one is credited in its caption and again on the credits page, with a link to the file and to the licence.
Who it is written for
Readers of English who follow Qatari club football: people living in Qatar, where English is the second working language of a largely international population, and across the Gulf, plus anyone further afield trying to follow the league in a language other than Arabic. That is the gap this site fills. The league's own site covers Arabic properly; the English-language record of Qatari football is thinner than it should be.
Practical consequences: spelling is British, dates are written day-month-year, kick-off times are Doha time (AST, UTC+3) exactly as the league publishes them, and capacities are in people rather than anything that needs converting. Club names use the most common English spelling, with the variants noted where they help somebody searching.
What used to be here
This domain previously carried an English and Arabic blog about Qatari football, active from roughly 2017 to 2022, with match previews, standings pages and stadium write-ups. It lapsed, the hosting was suspended, and the domain expired.
The site was rebuilt here in October 2026 on the same subject but with a different approach: reference material that stays correct instead of match pages that go stale in a week. Old addresses that had a lasting equivalent now redirect to it, so a link to the old standings page lands on how the league works rather than a 404. Nothing from the old site has been republished, and no date on this site has been backdated to pretend otherwise.
