Al Ahli 0-3 Al-Wakrah: Amin Zahzouh scores all three, starting from the penalty spot

The match

Amin Zahzouh scored all three goals as Al Wakrah won 3-0 at Al Thumama on Friday. His penalty in the 18th minute put the visitors in front, and Al Ahli never found a way back. They struggled to create clear chances, and Al Wakrah had control of the game for long spells, taking advantage when the home defence slipped.

The penalty was the only goal of the first half, so Al Wakrah went in 1-0 ahead. Al Ahli had no answer after the break either. Zahzouh doubled the lead in the 62nd minute, and with the home side still chasing the game he added a third in the 90th minute to complete his hat-trick.

The win takes Al Wakrah to eight points and moves them up the table in the early weeks of the season. Al Ahli are still waiting for a run of form to build on. Zahzouh plays in midfield, so three goals from him in one match matter all the more to a Wakrah attack that has come to rely on him.
