Lusail 0-0 Al-Shamal: Lusail hold fifth-placed Al Shamal to a goalless draw

The match

Neither side scored at the Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium of Qatar Sports Club on Saturday. Lusail's defending decided the match. Al Shamal had more of the ball, but they did not have the finishing to make it count, and Lusail came into the evening below them in the table and kept them out from start to finish.

It was goalless at half-time and stayed that way. Al Shamal kept trying to find a way through and never did. Lusail held firm. Chances were scarce at both ends, and neither goalkeeper was beaten all evening.

Al Shamal started Week 6 in fifth place and now have nine points from six matches. Lusail are on six. For Lusail, a point against a side above them is a fair return for their work at the back. Al Shamal kept the ball for long spells without scoring, and they will want more from their attacking play in the weeks ahead.
